915 Area Code Change
A current issue that we feel affects most of our customers is the 915 Area Code Change and settings changes on their computers.

As far as what changes have to be made to your computer to use the Internet the answer is... if your computer is currently connecting to the Internet through a Centex Dial-Up Connection using your modem and telephone line then NO changes have to be made to your computer, because to connect to Centex is a LOCAL call and not a long distance call.

If you change the Area Code that your Dial-Up connection uses to the 325 Area Code, then you MUST also change the Area Code that your modem uses.
To verify these settings you can view the properties of your connection and the properties of your modem. Click for screen shots of these settings for Windows XP.

Please note that Central Texas Communications and Central Texas Telephone Cooperative are not responsible for any long distance charges incurred by your use of the Internet. If you have any questions please call 1-877-212-2598 for Internet Technical Support.
