A new Trojan virus has been detected called Backdoor.jeem. The Trojan opens three TCP ports to allow a hacker to remotely control an infected computer. One TCP port is used for SMTP service; this allows the hacker to send email from your computer across our network and the Internet. Infected machines are being used to relay spam mail and to host adult websites. Without your knowledge, your computer may be a source of those annoying Spam messages such as the all too familiar Viagra emails. It is important that our customers update their Antivirus software and scan their systems to ensure they are not infected. Any customer whose computer is detected as being infected with this virus will have their account suspended immediately until it is removed.
See the Federal Trade Commission's
Who's Spamming Who? Could It Be You? article about these types of intrusions.
