Hi, my name is Larry White. I
have taught mathematics for over 30 years.
I am a strong believer in the use of technology
(calculators, computers, etc.) to solve problems. But I believe the real strength
in a person's education is the ability to use their mind quickly and
efficiently. Mental mathematics will enhance one's abilities and give them a
step up on others.
During my 30+ years I worked hard on developing
mathematics teams involved in number sense, calculator computation, and
mathematics problem solving.
My math teams have competed at the Texas
University Interscholastic League state competitions 18 times. My teams won 6
team championships and 4 individual championships during that time. They have
accumulated over $150,000 in scholarships. Most of this was accomplished
because of their determination and hard work. Added to their determination and
hard work was my computerized program "NUMBER SENSE COMPUTERIZED".
Presently, I am retired from public education but I continue to work with students and adults via the Internet and travel to schools to provide in-services and seminars on number sense, calculators, and mathematics. I was an executive director of the Texas Math and Science Coaches Association for 6 years and actively support and encourage participation and membership in TMSCA. Currently I am the Texas State UIL Number Sense Contest Director and the Texas State UIL Mathematics Contest Director.
Whether you want to compete or just improve your mental math skills, I know this program can help you as it has helped many others.
